I thought our little trip to the peaks was great. We did a lot of activities in 2 and half days.
First day - When we arrived we had to set up our tents and equipment. We then went out on a walk and half way on the walk we did a bit of climbing.
Second day - We got prepared to go for a 14 mile walk to Chatsworth House and back. When we got there we did Raft Building which was a great activity. This helped our teams to bond well.
Last day - We did not do much on this day. We packed all of our equipment and tents up.
Overall, I thought this was a great trip.
Cheers.

I went to the peaks on the 13th and came back on the 17th, I enjoyed my time at the peaks there were plenty of activities to do.

We went rock climbing , raft building and did a lot of walking. As a team I think everybody worked together really well. Nobody argued or fell out with one another everyone got along just fine.

The rock climbing was good and I managed to complete the tasks that were set by our tutors.

On the second day we walked to Chatsworth and did raft building and then walked back. The walking was very hard but everyone managed to pull through together. everyone worked well to make the raft and make it sail on the water.

Thank you for a pleasurable time

I went the 15th to the 17th of June, I really enjoyed my stay at the peaks ,we did a lot of walking which was very tiring but it wasn't as hard as I thought it might have been although it took alot of time to get to chatsworth and back.

We also did raft building which I thought was  fun although the water was freezing and the sun kept disappearing. we did rock climbing as soon as we finished unpacking , the rock climbing was alright although its not really something one of my interests but I had ago ,and the rain made it harder and we had to wait around a bit for the rain to stop.

I really enjoyed being independent about the cooking and camping lifestyle it was a really good experience, also i enjoyed spending time with the other groups everyone got on really well and had great fun.
the accommodation was brilliant and the games room was fun for our spare time.

I think 2/half days was just enough I think that was a reasonable amount of time

I really enjoyed our stay at the peaks and thank you to all the staff.

Two Rafts that do float

Raft Building
The raft building activity was a good teambuilding task and really tested everyone’s communication skills, we had to work as a team because of the size of the raft so it was impossible for just one person to move it around or tie it together etc.
Also when we had built the raft we had to work as a team when we got it out on the water, we had to make sure we were rowing at the same time otherwise our raft would just go round in circles.
Finally when we had finished on the water we had to work as a team to get the raft back to shore and help the rest of our group get on board and we gave them a push back out into the lake to help them get afloat.

We think this one will work

Raft Building
I thought that the raft building activity was very good due to the fact that it enabled usto bond moreas a team and helped us to discover each other’s strengths and weakness within the team. The activity was also good because it made us have to think about whether the raft will sink or float.

We are not sure about the design of this one

Does anyone know how to tie knots

The Campsite we stayed at was a good campsite because it has a games room where we could chill out; the showers were of a good standard. The Field we stayed on was slanted but  not a major problem.
When we got there we had to set up tents and have our lunch , split into 3 groups and time to get a back packed for the rock climbing , we didn't know that it was rock climbing until we got there. The walk there was up and down hill, we walked back the same route.
We got plenty of time to chill out and have fun. The 2nd day was the big walk, the walk was up and down hill a lot but it was enjoyable. The walk back was the hardest as we had to climb the hill to the camp site. We had plenty of breaks at check points, some 10 mins long some less depending on the group. Overall it was a good day.
The Activities we did were Rock Climbing and Raft Building. The Rock Climbing was on the 15th, we walked there and back and got caught up in rain while going, I did not do the rock climbing but I took photographs of the event, the place where it happened seemed very good. The Raft building we did was on the 16th, this  wasn’t good as we only got about 10 mins in the water which wasn't enough time for the long walk we did.
Overall the 2 and half days was good, the only down side to it was the Raft Building as we only had about 10 mins actually on the water. I would recommend doing this again for the people who have chose the outdoor pathway for the 2nd year

The time allowed for the raft building activity was 2 hours; the groups spent a large proportion of this time creating their raft leaving little time on the water.
The aim of the residential was for each group to plan and complete an expedition, which we are pleased to announce everyone achieved. Additional activities Rock Climbing and Improvised Raft Building were put in place to break down the walking element. In addition the activities were utilised to provide evidence of group cohesion and working as a team, thus enabling enhanced grades for the Team Work assignment.

Following a 3 hour trek, the group are ready for the team challenge

Activities: Raft Building, Climbing, Canoeing, Bouldering, Walking, Map Reading.
I thought the residential was good although there may have been too much walking. Day 1 was my favourite with the bouldering and the climbing, and also putting up the tents and having pasta with tuna cooked outdoors.
Day 2 was tougher with the 14 mile walk we had to do and eventually the 30 or so minutes raft building. I didn't enjoy day 2 as much because we just walked all day with barely any stops.
Day 3 only included a few hours at the campsite where we cooked our breakfasts and had a couple of hour’s free time.
Overall I thought the residential was a lot of fun and look forward to residential’s in the future.

Life is tough in the Uniform Services; day 2 was designed to reflect service routines and expedition reality !
We are pleased that you all pulled together and achieved both as individuals and within your teams.
Best Wishes

When I went the weather wasn’t the best but the activities we did made up for it? For example we went raft building and had to create a raft that had to support our team on the water, using wood and barrels it was hard but a great laugh , not so good that I fell in the water though.
I enjoyed the 20k walk there as there was sunny spells and kept me going , it seemed to take a long time to get there (about 2 hours) which left a good amount of time doing the raft exercise then  2 hours back.
After the event I was really tired and had to rest till the morning , a lot of team bonding went on at the campsite (which was very clean and pleasant and welcoming by the way) The first daywe did activity where we had to rock climb and personally I’m scared of heights but my peers cheered me on and gave me hope , again we got close as a group/team like linnet clough.  During the evenings we had spare time to cook our on food and generally chill out after a good days Work/fun.
I enjoyed the camping and I would be the first in the queue to go again!

I was in Group 1 throughout the residential on Monday 13th - Wednesday 15th June.
We completed team tasks which included: Rock climbing, Walking, Raft Building, Abseiling, Tent Erecting and Cooking.
I really enjoyed my time on the Peaks residential. I completed tasks that challenged me such as rock climbing but I faced my fears and really enjoyed my time there. The weather was lovely, we all worked as a team and completed tasks the way we were asked and when we were asked. We were responsible within activities such as navigation, cooking, cleaning and also had to work within a team and alone to put the tents up correctly, secure the raft correctly. We all made a contribution within our teams to the tasks we were completing and listened to all decisions and opinions made.
We tested our navigation and radio skills while we were walking and helped each other through
Overall this residential has changed my mind on outdoor activities and has made me want to complete more.

Activities: Bouldering, Rock climbing, Raft building, Navigation and Tent building.
Overall I thought that the residential went really well it was hard work and very challenging but I had fun doing it. I have learnt new things such as camp craft and advanced map reading and discovered that I wouldn't want to walk 14 miles in one day again but at least it was warm
I’ve never done bouldering before so it was new experience for me which has lead me to the conclusion that I want to do rock climbing in the second year. I enjoyed every part of the trip and would love to go again the staff were friendly and the tasks were challenging which is what made the experience more fun.

When we were there we did a lot of walking, raft building, rock climbing and abseiling, tent building and cooking.
I had a lot of fun when I was there although it was hard. I tried everything that was on offer to do I felt proud that I had completed them. I feel that our group worked well together, as a team we went raft building and we encouraged each other when someone was nervous about doing something.
At the end of the trip I felt proud of myself and my team mates as we all worked well together and achieved everything that was asked of us.

Here's my account of the peaks. I went to the peaks on the 13th - 15th June.
On the first day we walked a few miles to a rock face which we then had to climb. I'm not too keen on heights and I had never been climbing so I was a little anxious. I was the first one to climb the rock face and really enjoyed it. I hope to do a lot more climbing next year.
On the second day we had a 10km hike to Chatsworth. At Chatsworth we had the task of building a raft. The first raft we built was unsuitable and unsafe so we were told to start again. The second time round we were given a few hints by staff to help us build a safe stable raft. The second time round we worked much better as team and had good team cohesion. Luckily the second raft was suitable and so we put it on the river. We were all a bit uneasy at the start but within minutes we were all fairly comfortable on it, until it collapsed and we all fell in the water.
All in all the Peaks was a great trip and I learnt a lot about working as a team and about myself and overcoming my fears.
